2024 CDL RoundTable (click here for the audio from it). Stephen Daignault from Narragansett started off and then Ben Skurka from Pawtucket DPW spoke and sent the following information:

Here are a couple hyperlinks to get information on ELDT. I also have attached the two forms I spoke about today (below). There really isn’t to much to this. The biggest part is finding a competent person to have/hire as a trainer. Then that person basically files these application and waits to get responses from the DMV and the Post-Secondary Commission. I’m more than happy to meet with anyone regarding this information. We could meet here at DPW and I can help in any way I can.

The first part is :

  • Fill out the forms I have attached (below) and send them to proper channels listed on each form
  • Go to FMCA website and register your trainer and place you will hold trainings.
  • Have the trainer build a curriculum that works for them
  • Setup classes and run with it

Natural Gas and Electric First Responder E-Learning program

Rhode Island Energy - This E-Learning program was designed with First Responders in mind The program was designed to provide the most relevant information to not only educate First Responders, but ensure their safety in the event they are first on scene in the event of a Natural Gas or Electric incident. The programs are free for participants to register and complete, self-paced and keeps track of progress for participants. The trainings are designed with the participants in mind, to allow them flexibility to complete over a time period that makes the most sense for them. Both modules, the gas and electric, take roughly 3-3.5 hours to complete, but can be completed over the course of a days/weeks depending on the schedule of the participant.
